L, Do You Know I Love Death Note A Lot?

Oh, my goodness! This manga Death Note is AWESOME! Death Note is the best thing I have gotten into since FMA 2 years ago.

This was recommended to me by a friend of mine 3 years ago before it was licensed by Viz. I started reading DN after I moved to Chattanooga. That was sometime in Mid-July. After reading chapter one I downloaded from a website, I was hooked! Reading what happened at the end of that chapter got me a bit upset: I was missing a lot.

Now, it's a good thing I waited this long to read it. Because it's a good series to have in my physical collection, rather than having the scans. Since it took me 4 months to catch up to the current volume I'm waiting on, I'm not missing a thing: I'm up to date with the manga, the anime is on the air in Japan, the second movie is a hit in the Japanese Box Office and I would be glad to see the English adaption of Death Note, ala "RINGU" and "JU-ON: The Grudge." All the other anime I was into back when I started watching anime were old and I was missing out on a lot. I'm older now, I'm catching up with newer anime...

I'm sorry, I trailed off there for a minute. I was just thinking over all the anime I watched and finding Death Note the best one.

The really moral of the story is that...WHAT'S TAKING THEM SO LONG TO RELEASE VOLUME 8?!

The Waiting Game

This is a problem that I have been dealing with for a year and a half. Hunting for Manga as soon as it is released. Right now, I'm going to every book store in Chattanooga: Waldenbooks at Hamilton Place Mall and at the Northgate Mall, looking for Fullmetal Alchemist (Volume 10), Genshiken (Volume 7), Dr. Slump (Volume 10) and Death Note (Volume 8). This is getting really annoying, especially with the cover of FMA 10:

Makes me want it even more!

I understand a couple of things though about this: 1) It's close to Christmas and the companies are waiting close to Thanksgiving to release everything. 2) All of these titles I mentioned are popular.

There's no way to stop this. Everyone will just have to wait until they get what they want. I will go back tomorrow and hopefully it will be in stock.

4Kids Profit Drops

There's a report on Anime News Network that 4Kids Entertainment suffered an approximate $250,000 loss. This serves them right for ruining One Piece. Thanks to them, One Piece is a lost cause in the United States. It's so horrible that I can't bring myself to read the manga or watch the fansub version anymore.

Anime @ the Library (10/7/2006)

This is a post from my LiveJournal made on 10/7/2006:

So I checked out that anime event at the Downtown Chattanooga Library. It was...small. I was kinda thinking it would have 30+ people (Like in the pictures on the website). The movie they were showing was "Metropolis". I tried to avoid that movie because I was turned off by the way the characters were drawn (1950's Astro Boy style art). I was wrong. It turned out to be a good movie, though I missed the first 15 minutes of it looking for a place to park. The Auditorium closed after it ended. No Cosplay or contests? Lame. I started to bring my Naruto Handband, but since this is the first time I went to this, I should see how it turns out before I made a fool of myself. D;

I had a good time today. It wasn't what I expected, but I was satisfied and it served as compensation since I didn't go to AWA.

When will it end?

Naruto has been running non-stop for a year now, and nearing the 60th episode. If this keeps up, it will run in time with the Japanese episodes, which is now on episode 210. No worry for me though. I have 150+ episodes I have been saving up as a "collector's version." I don't hate the English dub, but I can watch Naruto anytime if I have the original version. Speaking of which, I need to get back to reading the manga. Thanks to school, I haven't been able to read any manga for a couple of months.

Dragonball Z: Fusion Reborn - Revisited -SPOILERS-

Wow, I think history has been made. It's the first time the word "hell" has been said on DBZ on Cartoon Network. And the first time I have heard Vegeta cursed. "If I run, it will be hell." I don't remember if that's the exact thing he said, but...YATTA!! This makes a Vegeta fangirl proud. :D

This made the movie better, watching it in english. However, a few things were cut, despite the showing having a TV-PG (D) rating. Like:

[SPOILERS]
A fight scene involving a revived Hitler attacking West City.
[/SPOILERS]

They ruined the line "Vegeta, you're already dead." It's now "But you're already dead, and you said death was better than life," or something like that. And Pikkon's lines were lame. He said things like "Stupid piece of trash!" when he was breaking the barrier. In the Japanese dub, I remember seeing harsher words in the subtitles...

After looking around GameFAQs, a few posters said the new line was close to the one in the Uncut Version. Um...So wait. This was the edited version? I'm so confused. They said "hell" as the name of the place, not as a curse word. But either way, it was said anyway. They could have might as well just aired the uncut version.

Well, it was good seeing something relatively new in the DBZ world on Cartoon Network in 3 years. There's another DBZ movie coming on next month, "Wrath of the Dragon." It's the last DBZ movie. I didn't like it much though, since VEgeta is hardly in it. /pif
